Alexander Sorloth, beyond the goal
Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth of Atlético de Madrid had a good performance against Valencia at the Cívitas Metropolitano, despite not scoring. Sorloth, who started for the third time this season, won almost all of his duels, combined in the front of the area, made runs, and pressed.
He also fixed the central defenders to allow teammates to arrive from the second line and gave the team air. Although he did not score, the Metropolitano gave him a loud ovation after he missed a clear double chance.
Sorloth made four shots, only one of which was on target, and won three possessions of the ball. He intervened in the game 27 times, with more than 80% of his passes accurate, a percentage that rises to 100% in the final third of the field (five of five). He won four aerial duels, the most of any player.
