Atlético de Madrid takes action against football violence
Atlético de Madrid has decided not to sell tickets in the away section to any season ticket holders in the Grada de Animación for the next five away games. This decision is due to the two serious sanctions the club received in recent days as a result of various incidents caused by a small minority of fans.
The first of these occurred in the match against Real Madrid and resulted in the closure of the stadium area for three games and the proposal to close the stadium completely for two weeks, as well as two significant financial penalties.
In addition, after some Atlético de Madrid ultras showed Nazi gestures during the match against Benfica in Lisbon, the UEFA Appeals Committee has sanctioned the club with the prohibition of selling tickets for away matches in one Champions League game. The red and white team states in its statement that the damage caused by a vast minority is difficult to repair and that the seriousness of the matter and the responsibility of safeguarding the image of the entity requires taking into account this measure while identifying those involved.
