Atlético de Madrid faces possible sanction and closure of Metropolitano
The State Commission against Violence, Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Sport has proposed a fine of 65,000 euros and the total closure of Atlético de Madrid’s stadium for two weeks.
The decision is due to the invasion of the playing field by two fans, the introduction of a dangerous knife, the display of Nazi symbolism and the celebration of Atlético de Madrid players with a section of the stand where incidents occurred that led to the temporary suspension of the match.
The Commission has also pointed out that the incidents were perpetrated by members of a radical group, who had previously committed infractions typified in Law 19/2007, a circumstance communicated and known by the club. The proposed sanction is based on serious deficiencies in access and permanence control measures for spectators and support and promotion of the radical group.
