Alexander Sorloth, the striker looking for his best version at Atlético de Madrid
Atlético de Madrid has had an irregular start to the season, with a stronger defense than attack. Alexander Sorloth, one of the strikers signed in the last summer transfer window, has had a lower than expected performance, but has shown flashes of his quality.
In Villarreal, Sorloth proved to be a great goalscorer, scoring 27 goals last season. However, in Atlético, he has had difficulties finding his best form. Despite scoring one goal and giving two assists in La Liga, his expected goals ratio is 2.51 and is 1.51 below expected.
Sorloth has had more success with the Norwegian national team, where he has scored two goals and given one assist in the last break. Cholo Simeone continues to look for the best way to combine Sorloth with the rest of the team, but has not yet found the formula for the Norwegian striker to return to his best version of last season.
