Uribes backs sanction against Atlético de Madrid for violent incidents
The president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, defended the proposal of the Comisión Antiviolencia to close the Atlético de Madrid stadium for two weeks following the incidents that occurred during the suspended derby.
Uribes described the events as ‘unacceptable’ and ’the antithesis of sports values’. The sanction is due to the throwing of objects towards the Real Madrid goalkeeper’s area after celebrating a goal. Uribes also highlighted the importance of education and training in civic values to reverse inappropriate behaviors in sports.
