“The Anthems of Atlético de Madrid
Atlético de Madrid has had several anthems throughout its history, each representing important moments in the life of the club. The first anthem, ‘Adelante, Campeones’, was written in 1929 by Salvador Mauri and composed by Luis Scala Almozara.
It was first performed in 1931 at the Vallecas field before a match against Real Murcia. The second anthem, ‘Atlético-Aviación’, was composed by Mariano Calvo del Río and José María Legaza Puchol in 1941. It was first performed after Atlético-Aviación won its first league championship.
The third anthem, ‘Hala Atleti’, was composed by Román Musolas and Enrique Peiró Rosell in 1951 and became a battle cry for the team’s fans. The fourth anthem, ‘Bodas de Oro’, was written by Leonardo García Bastante and composed by Rafael Guillén Sánchez in 1953 to celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary.
The fifth anthem, ‘En Pos de la Victoria’, was written by Andrés Pesquera Monteagudo and composed by José Regidor Rueda in 1964. Each anthem represents an important moment in the history of Atlético de Madrid and is a reminder of the passion and victory that have defined the team.
