“Club Unión Collado Villalba becomes Atlético de Madrid’s feeder club”
Club Unión Collado Villalba has become Atlético de Madrid’s feeder club for the upcoming season, after the agreement of affiliation between both entities was accepted by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
The Villalba team will compete as Atlético de Madrid’s feeder club in Group 7 of Tercera RFEF for ten years. During the first season, the team will maintain its current colors and name, but it is expected that in the 2025-26 season, the name Atlético de Madrid C will be adopted and the traditional red and white uniform will be used. The planning of this first campaign will be under the responsibility of Atlético de Madrid’s general football management, which will designate the technical team and decide the configuration of the squad.

“Amanda Sampedro retires as historic captain of Atlético de Madrid Femenino”
Amanda Sampedro, emblematic captain of Atlético de Madrid Femenino, announced her retirement as a professional footballer. The Madrid-born midfielder joined the lower categories of the red-and-white team at the age of 9 and debuted with the first team at the age of 15.
At 18, she became one of the captains and in the 2014/15 season she became the first. During her 20 seasons as a red-and-white player, until the 2021/22 season, she won the first five titles in the team’s history: the Queen’s Cup of the 2015/16 season, three consecutive league championships (2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19) and a Spanish Super Cup in 2021. She is also the second player who has worn the Atlético de Madrid Femenino jersey the most times in official matches (202, tied with Carmen Menayo), only behind Silvia Meseguer (205 matches). Sixteen players from Atlético Madrid’s Academy joined the first team for their preseason training camp in Los Ángeles de San Rafael. Goalkeeper Antonio Gomis, who has already played for the first team, led the group that also included Gerónimo Spina, Taufik Seidou, Javi Serrano, Adrián Niño, Diego Bri and Salim El Jebari.

The draw for the 2024/2025 Primera RFEF calendar took place at the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas (Madrid) on July 23. Atlético de Madrid B will start the season on the weekend of August 24-25 by hosting Atlético Sanluqueño at the Ciudad Deportiva de Majadahonda.

“Atlético Madrid kicks off 2024/25 preseason”
Atlético Madrid kicked off their 2024/25 preseason this past Thursday, July 25th, at the Centro Deportivo Alcalá de Henares. The red and white players, joined by a group of academy players, were under the command of Víctor Martín, who led his first session as the team’s coach.
Ana Vitória and Rasheedat Ajibade, who are currently competing in the Paris Olympics, and Vilde Bøe Risa, who played with Norway in the July FIFA window, will not be present for the start of the season.
After a few days at the Centro Deportivo Alcalá de Henares, the team will travel to Los Ángeles de San Rafael for the traditional stage in the Segovian town. Then, they will head to Kansas to compete in The Women’s Cup from August 14th to 17th, alongside KC Current (USA), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), and INAC Kobe (Japan). The season will officially start in September with the semifinal match of the first round of the Women’s Champions League against Rosenborg.
