Atlético Final Preparation for Montilivi: Simeone Shuffles Options
Atlético de Madrid is finalizing details for their match against Girona in Montilivi, in what will be the last league game. Diego Simeone, true to his style, has been trying different lineups in the last training session, leaving several questions about the starting eleven.
Initially, he tried a team with Musso in goal, a defense with Llorente, Le Normand, Giménez and Reinildo; Giuliano, De Paul, Lemar and Galán in midfield; and Julián alongside Sorloth in attack.
One of the surprises of this lineup was the inclusion of Galán, who could play as a wing-back in some phases of the match. Subsequently, Simeone radically changed the team, keeping Musso and betting on a defense with Molina, Witsel, Lenglet and Azpilicueta; Riquelme, Koke, Gallagher and Lino in the midfield; and Griezmann alongside Correa in attack.
This eleven was similar to the one he tried last Wednesday. In fact, from this base team, El Cholo made modifications, bringing in Llorente and De Paul in place of Riquelme and Gallagher. The session culminated with Giuliano replacing Koke, shifting Marcos Llorente to the center of the field. The final lineup could undergo further variations if Oblak and Pablo Barrios rejoin training, although this will depend on their physical evolution in the coming hours. Simeone leaves nothing to chance and seeks the best combination to face the match in Montilivi.
