Atlético B Stumbles in Marbella: A Setback in the Promotion Battle
Atlético de Madrid B suffered a defeat (2-0) against Marbella at the Banús Football Center, in a match where the reserve team failed to show their best, especially away from home. This result complicates their ‘play-off’ aspirations, although they still remain intact.
The team led by Fernando Torres conceded an early goal, courtesy of Edwards in the 4th minute, which made the match an uphill battle. Despite their efforts, Boñar’s chance in the 24th minute was practically the only dangerous opportunity for Atlético B in the first half, with Rayane trying without much success.
Torres sought to revitalize the team at halftime, introducing Selu Diallo for Javi Serrano, but a penalty converted by Dorian extended the lead for the Andalusians, dealing a blow to Atlético B. Despite trying to react, shots from Jano and Borja did not find the net.
With this adverse result, the reserve team is in sixth position, one point behind Mérida, which marks the ‘play-off’ zone. The equality in the table is maximum, and the team must react in the next match against Fuenlabrada at the Cerro del Espino in Majadahonda, where they will seek to make amends and regain ground in the fight for promotion. Aúpa Atleti!
