Musso: Continuity at Atlético or Heading to Naples?
Juan Musso has made a good impression at Atlético, proving to be a reliable substitute for Oblak. His participation in the Copa del Rey, including the semi-finals against Barcelona, and his positive influence on Oblak’s performance, who is aiming for the Zamora, have not gone unnoticed.
However, Atlético faces a crucial decision: to execute the seven million euro purchase option from Atalanta. Despite valuing his contribution and his good atmosphere in the locker room, the board may not be willing to invest that sum in a second goalkeeper.
A renewal of the loan is being considered. If this is not possible, Musso’s continuity at the Metropolitano is compromised. Faced with this situation, Napoli, leader of Serie A, has shown interest in the Argentine goalkeeper, according to Italian media.
Alex Meret, the Italian team’s starting goalkeeper, is out of contract and his renewal is up in the air, making Musso an attractive option for the Neapolitan club. Interestingly, Meret has previously been on Atlético’s radar. If Musso ultimately does not continue at Atlético, the club will look for a goalkeeper at zero cost. One name that has been mentioned is Walter Benítez, who finishes his contract with PSV.
