Metropolitano, a strong candidate for the 2027 Champions League final!
Great news for the Rojiblancos fans! The Spanish Government has given its approval for the Metropolitano to host the Champions League final in 2027, if UEFA decides so. Pilar Alegría, Minister of Education and Vocational Training, confirmed the news, highlighting Spain’s capacity to host major sporting events.
She recalled the Europa League final in Seville (2022), the Women’s Champions League in Bilbao (2024), and the upcoming Europa League final also in Bilbao (2025), demonstrating the country’s experience and commitment to elite football.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation requested this collaboration, and the Council of Ministers has responded positively. Now, the entire Atlético family eagerly awaits UEFA’s final decision, scheduled for September.
Although the Metropolitano already hosted a Champions League final in 2019 and is seen as a favorite, UEFA has postponed the decision considering operational factors. We trust that our stadium will be chosen and that we can experience another magical night of football at the Metropolitano!
