Barrios, out as precaution against Betis
Following the recent defeat against Osasuna, Atlético de Madrid has returned to work at Cerro del Espino to prepare for the upcoming match against Real Betis. The post-match session focused on recovery for the starters, with ‘core’ exercises, yoga, physiotherapy and gym.
The rest of the squad completed a more demanding training session, combining physical and technical work. The good news is the presence of César Azpilicueta, recovered from the blow suffered against Osasuna, training normally.
However, Pablo Barrios did not train on the pitch, although he was present at the facilities. The youth player, who had to be substituted in the match in Pamplona due to a blow to the head, is under observation.
Medical tests ruled out serious injuries, but due to the concussion suffered and following the LaLiga protocol, he has been recommended 48 hours of rest. This makes his participation in Sunday’s match against Betis very unlikely, as the protocol requires a period of at least six days of rest after a trauma of this type. Barrios, although he regained consciousness quickly and left the pitch on his own feet after being attended to, must follow medical instructions to ensure his full recovery. We hope to see him back at the Metropolitano soon, defending our colors.
