Frimpong apologizes for kicking the bouquet at the Metropolitano
Jeremy Frimpong, a player for Bayer, caused an incident during the match against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano in the Champions League. After Piero Hincapié’s goal, Frimpong kicked the bouquet that a fan always places in that area of the stadium, a beautiful tradition that has been going on for over two decades.
The gesture angered José María Giménez and Atlético fans. Hours later, Frimpong reflected and apologized through social media: ‘I didn’t know and in the moment of the goal I got carried away by the emotion and made a mistake’. He accompanied his English message with a phrase in Spanish: ‘Sorry to Atlético’s fans and especially to Margarita’, an apology to the fan who has been carrying out this tradition for over two decades.
