Dembélé, a significant absence for PSG against Atleti
Bad news for PSG, and perhaps a small joy for Atleti. Ousmane Dembélé, a key figure in the Parisian team, will miss the start of the Club World Cup, including the highly anticipated debut against Atlético de Madrid.
The French winger suffered a quadriceps injury during the match between Spain and France, which will keep him off the field for two to three weeks.
Although exams are still needed to determine the exact severity of the injury, it is almost certain that Dembélé will not be present in the match against Atleti, scheduled for June 15 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
His absence represents a severe blow for coach Luis Enrique, who will have to reconfigure his attack to face the important commitment. Another PSG player, Bradley Barcola, also left the French camp, although his case seems less serious due to a knee injury.
The French coach, Didier Deschamps, has chosen not to call up replacements for either player. Meanwhile, Aurélien Tchouameni completed his first full training session after overcoming physical discomfort.
