Molina in Italian Spotlight: Goodbye to the Metropolitano?
Nahuel Molina, one of our own, could be in Lazio’s orbit for the 25/26 season. Despite being a valuable player for Cholo Simeone, interest from Italy could test his continuity at Atlético de Madrid.
Although Molina has the coach’s confidence, competition at right-back is high, with Marcos Llorente also proving his worth in that position. Molina’s performance this season has been the subject of debate, and an attractive offer could lead the Rojiblanca board to consider his transfer.
Angelo Fabiani, Lazio’s sporting director, looks favorably on Molina’s international experience and his knowledge of Italian football, where he played for Udinese between 2020 and 2022.
Atlético paid around 20 million euros for the Argentinian, and a similar figure would be needed to convince the club to part with him. Molina’s contract extends until 2027, but a proposal that reaches his current market value, estimated at 25 million euros, could facilitate his departure from the Metropolitano.
In the recent match against Betis, Molina came on in the second half and, although he celebrated a goal, it was disallowed for a tight offside, a reflection of the fine line that sometimes separates joy from misfortune in football. Molina’s future at Atleti, therefore, remains uncertain, subject to Lazio’s firm interest and the club’s final decision.
