Atlético Seeks a Final Exit for Saúl
Atlético de Madrid is preparing to address Saúl’s situation for the upcoming season. Despite having a contract until 2026, the club has no intention of the player continuing to wear the red and white jersey.
Saúl, who was once a benchmark for the team, has seen his performance decline, relegating him to a secondary role. Difficulties in adapting to this new role have also hindered his continuity. The club is looking for a solution that avoids repeating the soap opera of previous summers.
One option is another loan, even assuming part of his salary, as already happened in Sevilla. Another alternative would be to give him a free release, although it would involve paying the remaining 15 million euros gross of his contract.
After his time in Sevilla, where he failed to stand out, Saúl’s future seems far from the Metropolitano. The board is working to find a destination that allows him to relaunch his career and, at the same time, free Atlético from a significant salary burden. A solution is sought that benefits both parties, putting an end to a cycle that, in its day, promised to be brilliant.
