Atlético Celebrates San Isidro with Madrid Flavor
Atlético de Madrid and its players are already breathing in the festive atmosphere of San Isidro, a very special date for all Madrid natives. Mahou, a club sponsor, has brought together key figures from the Red and White team, both male and female, to share their experiences and the meaning of this celebration so rooted in the city.
Koke, the captain and a true Madrid native, evokes memories of his childhood in La Pradera, highlighting how San Isidro unites young and old. Pablo Barrios, another talent from the youth academy, associates the sound of the organ with the chulapa tradition and the festive atmosphere that floods the city.
Samu Lino, in his second season with Atlético, highlights the great atmosphere that is experienced during these festivities. Rosa Otermín, a player from the women’s team, also shares her childhood memories, showing her joy at reliving a piece of the pradera.
The pradera de San Isidro, an emblematic place, has a close relationship with the club’s history, since it is located very close to what was the Vicente Calderón, a stadium that was Atlético’s home for many years. Atlético de Madrid, true to its roots, proudly displays the bear and the strawberry tree, unmistakable symbols of Madrid, on its shield, reaffirming its identity and connection with the city.
