Emotional Farewell to Rojiblancas Legends
Atlético de Madrid bid a heartfelt farewell to four players who left an indelible mark on the club: Marta Cardona, Rasheedat Ajibade, Ainhoa Moraza, and Merle Barth.
After securing qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League with a victory against Levante Las Planas, Atlético fans gave an emotional farewell to these Rojiblancas legends at the Deportivo Alcalá center.
Merle Barth, who joined the club in 2022, overcame a tough injury and became captain, thanked the support received during her three years on the team.
Marta Cardona, after 64 games and a Copa de la Reina, also said goodbye with heartfelt words, acknowledging the affection received since her arrival from Real Madrid and declaring herself an Atlética forever.
Rasheedat Ajibade, the talented Nigerian forward, closes her stage after four and a half seasons, 139 games and 40 goals, two titles (2021 Spanish Super Cup and 2023 Copa de la Reina) and became a fundamental player of the team, thanking the unconditional support of the fans, her teammates and the coaching staff.
Ainhoa Moraza, with 93 games and another Copa de la Reina in her palmares, also expressed her gratitude to the club, the staff, her teammates and the fans for the constant support during her three years as a key player and captain of the team. A goodbye full of emotions and recognitions to four figures who passionately defended the Rojiblancos colors.
