Atlético raises its voice against referee harassment
Atlético de Madrid is not silent in the face of media pressure on referees, especially after the match between Osasuna and Real Madrid. The controversy surrounding Munuera Montero’s refereeing decisions has raised alarms at the rojiblanco club, which has expressed its support for the referee.
Faced with the commotion caused by information linking Munuera Montero to Atlético’s job offers, the club defended the referee with a forceful message on social media. They denounced a campaign of referee harassment, warning of the consequences of putting pressure on those who administer justice.
“The machinery has been running for several weeks and crushes everything in its path. Let’s see who is brave enough to administer justice knowing that they could be next…”, read the tweet, accompanied by the hashtag #StopAcosoArbitralYa.
The Unión Internacional de Peñas del Atlético de Madrid joined the defense, launching a direct message to Real Madrid. They accuse the white club of maintaining a harassment campaign against the referees, attacking anyone who whistles against them.
They called the pressure exerted on the referees unacceptable and demanded that the competent authorities, such as the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the Technical Committee of Referees, La Liga and the Higher Sports Council, take action. Atlético stands firm in its defense of refereeing integrity and denounces the campaign of pressure it considers unfair.
