Giménez Leads the Fight Against Bullying with the Atlético Foundation
The Atlético de Madrid Foundation successfully closes the fourth season of its ‘Become a Defense Against Bullying’ project, a program that uses the values of football as a tool for social change.
The finishing touch was provided by José María Giménez, Uruguayan defender and a key figure in the initiative since its inception, who visited the Santa Catalina School to share an inspiring message with young fifth-grade students.
Giménez, with his approachability and experience, raised awareness among students about the importance of reporting school bullying and cyberbullying, encouraging them to support each other and not remain silent in the face of this problem.
His participation not only motivated the young people but also reinforced Atlético de Madrid’s commitment to building a more just and respectful society. The ‘Become a Defense Against Bullying’ project has had a great impact in the Community of Madrid, reaching 2,000 students from 13 educational centers this year.
The initiative has had the support of H&S, Fundación LaLiga, and prominent figures in football, such as César Azpilicueta, in addition to the Foundation Ambassador, Carla Pereyra.
Furthermore, this year a joint initiative was carried out with Fundación LaLiga with the participation of César Azpilicueta and Carla Pereyra, the Foundation Ambassador. Robin LeNormand spearheaded the athletic campaign coinciding with the International Day Against Bullying. With actions like this, Atlético de Madrid demonstrates that it is much more than a football club; it is an institution committed to the well-being of the community and the training of responsible and supportive citizens.
