Lenglet analyzes the defeat: A match of disconnection
Clément Lenglet, central defender for Atlético de Madrid on loan from Barcelona, offered his perspective after the match between Spain and France in the Nations League.
Despite the 5-4 defeat, Lenglet believes the French team played well overall, although he acknowledged a crucial fifteen-minute period of disconnection that Spain took advantage of to head towards victory. ‘It was a bit of a crazy game.
In the end, we lost it ourselves,’ Lenglet stated, adding that the lack of success in both areas was a determining factor. The defender emphasized the need to be more efficient in those key areas of the field to aspire to win matches.
Lenglet also highlighted the importance of limiting ball losses and controlling the runs of the rival midfielders, factors that, according to him, were key in the development of the game.
Despite regretting that France did not capitalize on its opportunities in the first half, Lenglet recognized the good performance of Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón, whose interventions were crucial for the national team. The Atlético player concluded by pointing out the need to improve in several aspects, especially in concentration throughout the match, since, at this level, any failure is costly.
