Atlético Madrid, sole leaders after 12 consecutive wins
Atlético Madrid ends 2024 at the top of the Liga table, having won 12 consecutive games, seven of them in Liga. The red and whites have cut 13 points from Barcelona in the last six games and have become sole leaders after winning at the Barcelona stadium for the first time in 18 years.
The team has taken the lead playing in several of the most difficult stadiums of the competition, such as San Mamés, Mallorca and Villarreal. In addition, Atlético is the only team that has not lost at home in Liga and will receive all its pursuers at its stadium in the second round.
The team has also improved its level outside of Liga and in Champions, conquering Paris and Prague after having started by losing heavily in Lisbon against Benfica. The calendar of the second round seems favorable for the red and whites, who have already overcome several of the highest peaks away from the Metropolitano.
