Atlético one step away from Champions League playoffs
Atlético de Madrid face Bayer Leverkusen with the intention of securing their place in the Champions League. They currently occupy eleventh place with 12 points, which would guarantee them a place in the playoffs.
If they beat Leverkusen, they will go into the final round with 15 points and will be classified. The first objective would be met if Simeone’s team beat the German team. To finish in the top eight, they would have to win the remaining two games, including the one against Salzburg in the final round. There are two rounds left and most places are still to be decided, but Atlético look to the future with optimism.
