Montse Tomé leaves out Atlético de Madrid players in the Women's National Team
National women’s coach Montse Tomé has released the list of players for the upcoming friendlies against South Korea and France, and has not included any Atlético de Madrid players. This may surprise many, as the team is in second place in the league with one more point than Real Madrid, who have one game less.
Despite a recent slump, the mattress makers are having a good season overall. There are several Spanish players who are performing well, such as goalkeeper Lola Gallardo, who shone especially in the derby against Real Madrid.
In the defensive line, Moraza, Medina, Lloris or Xènia Pérez are having a very good season and could be selectable players. The one who may be closest is Lloris, who has just shone with Spain Under-20.
Further ahead, there are players who are starters such as Sheila Guijarro or Fiamma Benítez, but they are not shining in the scoring aspect. It is especially striking that Fiamma is not being called up when she was playing regularly for Valencia last season.
