Manquillo: From Rojiblanco Idol to Absence at Celta
Former Atlético de Madrid player, Javier Manquillo, is experiencing a difficult present at Celta de Vigo. The full-back, whose contract expires in June, has gone four consecutive games without being called up by coach Claudio Giráldez, including the match against his former team, Atlético de Madrid.
His last appearance dates back to January 19, where he played the last 20 minutes against Athletic Club. Despite having participated in 10 League games this season, seven of them as a starter, Manquillo seems to have lost prominence in the plans of the Celta coach.
Meanwhile, Giráldez recovers Starfelt and Ilaix Moriba for the clash, although he regrets the injury absence of Hugo Álvarez. The squad also includes Jones El-Abdellaoui, a player from the reserve team. Rojiblancos fans fondly remember Manquillo, a youth player who fiercely defended the Atleti badge and is now looking to regain his best level away from the Metropolitano. We hope he will soon enjoy football again and demonstrate his worth.
