Atletico Takes a Breather
Atletico Madrid will not return to training until Wednesday, meaning the players will have three days of rest after the match against Real Madrid. Simeone’s team will not have to play the Champions League playoff, so they have the whole week to prepare for the league match on Saturday against Celta.
The rest is important for both the technical staff and the squad, as after these two weeks, Atletico will have to face La Liga, Copa and Champions League. The calendar will be loaded with matches again and Simeone knows that one of the successes so far is that he can count on the entire squad.
Atletico has played nine matches between January 12 and February 8, with a balance of six wins, two draws and one loss. At the moment, the Argentine coach has all his players available and has been able to make rotations when he deemed it necessary.
The next league commitment will be against a Valencia that is fighting to get out of the relegation zone. For now, Simeone’s team has a few days to disconnect and rest. With this break, the team will be able to prepare properly for the next challenges and maintain their good performance in the season.
