Atlético Legend Molina Triumphs in India
José Francisco Molina, former goalkeeper and Atlético de Madrid icon, continues to reap success, this time in the Indian Super League. The former sporting director of the Spanish national team between 2018 and 2022, has made history by leading his team, Mohun Bagan, to retain the League Shield title.
Under his guidance, the ‘Mariners’ secured the championship after defeating Odisha, proving to be the most solid team of the season. The key to success, according to Molina, lies in unity and teamwork.
‘To win a title you have to be a team,’ he stated, highlighting the importance of the support from the board, the coaching staff, and, of course, the quality and effort of the players.
The Spanish coach expressed special gratitude to the fans, emphasizing that the main goal is to make them happy and thanking them for the unconditional support received throughout the season.
Molina denied feeling extra pressure in the decisive match, describing it as ’the best moment of the season’, playing at home in front of their fans. Despite having secured the league title, the team remains focused, with their sights set on achieving the double and preparing for the Cup (ISL). Molina and his team aspire to complete a historic season, once again demonstrating the competitive and winning spirit that characterized the former ‘rojiblanco’ during his time at the Metropolitano.
