Street Football: Atlético de Madrid Foundation Revives Passion in the Neighborhood
The Atlético de Madrid Foundation is launching the ‘Street Football’ Tournament, an initiative that seeks to revive the magic of traditional football in a 3x3 format.
The tournament, with limited spots, will take place on March 22nd in the vicinity of Matadero, thanks to the support of the Madrid City Council and the Municipal Boards of Arganzuela and Centro.
Registration is now open at www.torneofutbolcallejero.com, with simple requirements: be of legal age, form a team of four players, and be ready to enjoy football in its purest form.
Adelardo Rodríguez, president of the Atlético de Madrid Foundation, highlights the positive impact that sport can have on society: “We want to demonstrate that sport, and in this case football, can have a great impact and help transform society.
The main objective is to return football to the neighborhood. The ball is an excellent tool to generate community and promote healthy lifestyles.” The tournament will feature four simultaneous courts, and the main court will host challenges throughout the day, culminating in the final phase of the Tournament.
Participants will have the opportunity to vote between two options to choose the court that will be rehabilitated in the 2025-2026 season. In this renovated court, the Atlético de Madrid Foundation will establish a Social School dedicated to children in vulnerable situations. The event is supported by Fundación la Caixa, Coca-Cola, Kraken, Riyadh Air, Nike, and LG, demonstrating a strong commitment to the community and grassroots sports.
