Atlético Madrid advances in Champions League with Simeones leading the way
Atlético Madrid advanced to the round of 16 of the Champions League with a resounding 0-4 victory over Salzburg. Giuliano Simeone, son of coach Diego Simeone, scored his first goal in the competition and led the team alongside Antoine Griezmann, who scored a brace.
The red and white team played an intense and collective match, biting up high to steal in high zones and running a lot. Salzburg, already eliminated and with a very young team, could not withstand the red and white downpour and could only approach Oblak without giving him real work. Atlético, fifth in the table, will now face City, Bayern or Madrid in the round of 16.
