Worry in Seville: Vargas injured after a moment of brilliance
A bittersweet match for Atlético de Madrid on their visit to Seville. Beyond the result, the match left a worrying image: the injury of Rubén Vargas, the Swiss winger of Sevilla.
The player, who had starred in a brilliant play by inventing a heel pass that led to the first goal of the match, had to leave the field just ten minutes later due to a muscle tear in the hamstrings of his right leg. The technical gesture, of great quality, ended up taking its toll.
Although medical tests are still awaited to determine the exact extent of the injury, the concern is evident, as he could miss the rest of the season. Despite the bad news, Sevilla has alternatives in that position, such as Ejuke and Idumbo. In addition, sporting director Víctor Orta has closed the incorporation of Alfon, who can also play on that wing, from next season. However, Vargas’ absence represents a major setback for the Sevillian team.
