The Social Commission of Atlético de Madrid will debate the removal of Courtois' plaque
Atlético de Madrid has created the Social Commission, a consultative body formed by representatives of various collectives and fans of the club, which meets periodically to debate issues related to the identity, history and symbols of the rojiblancos.
In the next meeting, which will be held in November, one of the topics to be debated will be the removal of Courtois’ plaque from the Paseo de los centenarios.
Eduardo Fernández, president of the International Union of Peñas and member of the Social Commission, has confessed in the program Bendita Afición Rojiblanca that the majority of the members of the Commission think the same thing, that the plaque must be removed.
The divorce between the Atlético de Madrid fans and Thibaut Courtois came when the goalkeeper signed for Real Madrid and it worsened when the goalkeeper made some statements before a Champions League final. After that, some fans went so far as to tear down the Belgian goalkeeper’s plaque. The last episode was the throwing of objects in the derby after the Real Madrid goalkeeper celebrated the white goal defiantly looking at the Fondo Sur of the Metropolitano.
