Youth Derby: Clash of Titans in Defense
The Madrid derby between reserve teams is shaping up as a clash of strategies where defensive solidity will be key. Raúl González and Fernando Torres, two legends turned coaches, face each other with the primary goal of keeping a clean sheet, after the 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Metropolitano.
To do this, they rely on two strongholds in defense: Mario Rivas and Martín Pascual. Rivas, the young promise of Madrid, despite his young age (18), has already established himself as a pillar in the white defense.
His meteoric rise has led him to participate in four different categories this season, including a call-up with the first team. He stands out for his impeccable ball distribution, game vision, and forcefulness in both defense and attack.
Pascual, the Atlético veteran, will bring experience and leadership to the red and white defense. His arrival at the reserve team was a surprise, after having played in the First Division with Rayo Vallecano. His aerial game is outstanding, being a specialist in winning aerial duels.
In addition, his ability to distribute the game and his versatility make him a fundamental player for Torres. Both center-backs, right-footed and with academic training underway, embody the passion and commitment to their respective teams. This derby is not only a sporting confrontation, but also a showcase of emerging talent and experienced solidity in Madrid’s youth academies. Undoubtedly, an exciting duel where the defense will be the main weapon in search of victory.
