Atlético Madrid earns 53.5 million euros in new Champions League
Atlético Madrid has completed the first phase of the Champions League with a total of 53.5 million euros in revenue from sporting merits in the new format. The team led by Diego Simeone has won six of their eight matches in the tournament, finishing fifth in the standings and advancing directly to the round of 16.
The 36 participants have received 18.62 million euros for participating in the group stage of the top European competition, and Atlético has added 12.6 million for their six victories in this round. In addition, the team has received 9.3 million euros for finishing fifth in the standings, another two for being in the top eight and eleven million for their guaranteed participation in the round of 16.
