Musso: Continuity at Atlético?
Juan Musso’s future at Atlético de Madrid is up in the air. The Argentine goalkeeper, on loan from Atalanta, has proven his worth in the Cup and in the La Liga match he played at San Mamés, keeping a clean sheet. Despite his good performance, his continuity beyond June is not guaranteed.
The Colchoneros’ management values his performance positively, but his stay would be conditioned on him arriving at zero cost, without the club having to pay Atalanta. If not, Musso might not continue with the team after the Club World Cup.
Faced with this situation, Atlético is already exploring the market in search of a substitute goalkeeper for Jan Oblak, who has a contract until 2028 and remains the security between the posts.
Oblak is also in the fight to achieve his sixth Zamora Trophy, a milestone that no other goalkeeper has achieved in the history of La Liga. He currently leads the standings with a coefficient of 0.87, although the team’s overall performance in recent weeks does not favor him in this particular battle.
Musso, since his arrival at Atlético, quickly integrated into the locker room and formed a great group with his compatriots Nahuel, De Paul, Correa, Julián Alvarez and Giuliano, as well as with Cholo Simeone and his coaching staff. The goalkeeper was very excited at his presentation, stating that arriving at Atleti was “a yes from the heart.” His adaptation and performance have been remarkable, but his future at the club will depend on negotiations between Atlético and Atalanta.
