Derby at the Metropolitano: Case Dismissed
Good news for the Red and White fans. A court has dismissed the case against an Atlético de Madrid fan for alleged hate crimes related to an incident that occurred before the derby against Real Madrid at the Metropolitano in September 2023.
The complaint, filed by the mother of a girl wearing the rival team’s jersey, accused the fan of insults and threats. However, after the investigation, the judge of the Court of Instruction number 14 of Madrid has ordered the provisional dismissal of the case, arguing that there is insufficient evidence to attribute the attacks to the accused, Diego C.F.
Although the mother identified the accused in a line-up, Judge Carlos Valle points out that there are contradictions between the account of the complainants and that of the investigated, who admitted to shouting against Real Madrid, but denied the accusations of insults and aggression.
The magistrate emphasizes that the versions are opposite and that the evidence provided, such as videos and photographs, does not confirm the authorship of the alleged crimes. This judicial decision represents a relief for the Colchoneros fans, avoiding a possible sanction for the club and demonstrating that the accusations could not be conclusively proven.
