Toby Alderweireld (35), currently playing for Antwerp, explained in an interview that a health issue forced him to leave the Belgian national team in March 2023. The former Atlético de Madrid player suffered a panic attack after a defeat in the Cup, which led him to fear for his life and leave the national team a month later.
Despite still experiencing these crises occasionally, the Belgian defender underwent medical tests and they came out well. His last game with Belgium was at the World Cup in Qatar.
