Slovan remembers Daucik before facing Atlético
Slovan Bratislava, who visit Atlético de Madrid this Wednesday in the Champions League, remember the passage of their mythical ex-player and ex-coach Ferdinand Daucik through the mattress club in the 1950s.
Daucik, who wore the Slovan shirt between 1930 and 1935 and then coached the team between 1942 and 1948, settled in Spain after fleeing from Czechoslovakia. In his first season with Atlético, he achieved the runner-up in the Spanish league and took the team to the semi-finals of the European Cup in the 1958/59 season. In any case, both clubs will now face each other for the first time in European competition.
