Atlético de Madrid's winning connection with Austria
The last three times Atlético de Madrid played in Austria, they ended the season with silverware, specifically the Liga trophy. The first time was on September 15, 1976, in the first round of the Recopa de Europa against Rapid Vienna, with Luis on the bench.
The red and whites won 1-2 with goals from Rubén Cano and Ayala. On May 15 of the following year, they were crowned league champions in the penultimate matchday in a derby at the Bernabéu. The other two were with Simeone.
