Sevilla, in the shadow of the giants
Sevilla has shown a worrying face against LaLiga’s heavyweights, conceding half of their goals in duels against Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético de Madrid. Of the 34 goals conceded so far, 17 have come in these four matches, highlighting a marked difference in performance against the most powerful teams.
Both Real Madrid and Atlético scored four goals against them in the first round matches. In the remaining 20 LaLiga matches, Sevilla has conceded only 17 goals, averaging less than one goal per game. However, this statistic is overshadowed by the fragility shown against the big teams.
No other club in LaLiga has managed to score more than two goals against Sevilla, except for Almería in the Copa del Rey, who achieved a 4-1 victory that eliminated the Nervionenses in the round of 32. In contrast, García Pimienta’s team has scored 7 goals in their matches against the big teams, showing greater offensive effectiveness in these matches, although their scoring performance is considerably reduced against the rest of the rivals.
