The Reality of Madrid: Beyond the Smokescreen
Real Madrid, despite its galaxy of stars, is having a disappointing season. They have not won any of the five matches played against Champions League zone rivals in LaLiga, such as Barcelona, Atlético, and Athletic Club.
Additionally, they have been left out of the top eight in Europe and will have to play the Champions League repechage.
The reality is that the attacking quartet formed by Mbappé, Vinicius, Rodrigo, and Bellingham is not the unstoppable goal-scoring machine that was expected, but rather Barcelona is the one that is going from one thrashing to another, averaging 3.5 goals scored per game. The Madrid fans are trying to divert attention to the referees, whom they accuse of corruption without providing evidence, which is not believable considering that Real Madrid is the club most favored historically by the referees. It’s time to face reality and put aside the arbitral smokescreen.
