Atlético Madrid joins Football Clubs Climate Alliance at COP29
A Football Clubs Climate Alliance was created this Saturday on the sidelines of the COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan. Among the participants in the coalition are two Spanish clubs, Atlético Madrid and Real Betis.
The alliance was created by the Azerbaijani club Qarabag and the European Club Association (ECA) with the support of the COP29 Presidency and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
In addition to Qarabag and the two Spanish clubs, the alliance includes Liverpool and Tottenham (UK), Fenerbahce, Galatasaray (Turkey), Udinese (Italy), Porto (Portugal), Flamengo (Brazil) and Malmo (Sweden). With the signing of the Baku Declaration, the aforementioned clubs commit to raising awareness of climate issues and promoting the fight against climate change using the influence of football.
