Carrasco ordered to pay €180,000 to tax authorities
The Superior Court of Justice of Madrid has confirmed the sentence of Yannick Carrasco, former player of Atlético de Madrid, to pay €107,648 in Non-Resident Income Tax (IRNR) and €72,000 in fines for a contractual simulation detected by the tax authorities in a 2015 agreement between Atlético de Madrid and his agent, Christophe Henrotay.
The sentence highlights the previous relationship between Carrasco and Henrotay, considering it unlikely that the player would negotiate his transfer without an agent and that his agent would represent the interests of the club, concluding that there was a purpose of concealment and fraud. Carrasco must face the total payment of almost €180,000 in taxes and fines, setting a precedent for similar cases of other footballers.
