Atlético de Madrid misses opportunity to close in on leader
Atlético de Madrid drew 1-1 with Real Madrid in a thrilling match, but failed to close the gap at the top of the table. The home team started strong with Barroso taking the lead in the early minutes, but Sergio Esteban quickly equalized.
Atlético had chances to take the lead, but Real Madrid goalkeeper Álvaro González stood in their way. Madrid saved themselves and came out stronger in the second half, but Atlético ended up pushing for the win.
However, they couldn’t find the way and the draw was a ‘I want to but I can’t’ for the red and white team. Madrid remains at the top and Atlético will have to work hard if they want to fight to retain the trophy.
