Atleti Fans in Charge! Relentless Fight for Julián's Penalty
The International Union of Atlético de Madrid Fan Clubs does not give up. After the controversial elimination in the Champions League due to Julián Álvarez’s penalty, IFAB has changed the rule, but this does not stop the legal battle of the Rojiblancos fans.
They consider that this regulatory change reaffirms that the goal was unfairly disallowed. The fan clubs denounce a possible manipulation by UEFA, alleging that editing a video to justify the decision demonstrates bad faith.
This fact, far from discouraging them, gives them more strength to continue with their claim. ‘We will continue forward, no matter who it hurts,’ they assure, demonstrating their total commitment to the cause and to Atlético de Madrid.
IFAB, for its part, has clarified Rule 14, specifying that as of July 1 (applicable from the Club World Cup) the kick will be repeated if the ball is hit twice unintentionally. Before, it was considered failed, regardless of whether the action was voluntary or not. Atleti’s fan clubs see this clarification as a partial victory, but insist that the fight for what they consider fair for the club continues.
