Correa: Harsh Suspension After Getafe Match
Our Ángel Correa has received a harsh five-match suspension following his expulsion in the match against Getafe. The RFEF Disciplinary Committee handed down the suspension due to the incidents that occurred during the Liga EA Sports match, where Correa received a red card and, according to the referee’s report, uttered insults to the referee.
This sanction means that Correa will miss important LaLiga matches, which undoubtedly represents a blow for the team. The club submitted allegations, arguing that the expulsion was not deserved and seeking to reduce the sanction for subsequent comments, but the Committee dismissed these appeals.
Although the club presented video evidence, the Committee considered that it did not distort the action described in the referee’s report.
The Committee also did not accept the club’s request that Correa’s expressions be considered as contempt and not as insult, nor the extenuating circumstance of spontaneous repentance, despite the player’s public apologies on social networks.
