Atlético de Madrid was eliminated in the quarterfinals of LaLiga FC Futures after losing in the penalty shootout against Barcelona. The rojiblancos forced the penalties with a goal from Mario Bretón at the end, but the Atlético captain missed the second shot.
Despite the defeat, a good number of Atlético fans did not stop cheering them on in a gesture of applause. In the semifinals, which will be played on Sunday, Real Madrid and Betis will face off, and Barcelona and Sevilla.
