Cuti Romero: A Colchoneros Target
Atlético de Madrid has set its sights on Cristian ‘Cuti’ Romero to strengthen its defense next season. With the departures of Azpilicueta, Witsel, and Reinildo, the arrival of a central defender becomes a priority, and the Argentinian is the top favorite.
Romero has already expressed his desire to play in LaLiga and views Atlético’s project favorably after talking with Diego Simeone. However, Tottenham will not make his departure easy and would demand around 70 million euros, a figure considered excessive at the Metropolitano.
Miguel Ángel Gil, CEO of Atlético, will take charge of the negotiation with Daniel Levy, president of Tottenham, with whom he maintains a good relationship. The goal is to learn firsthand the demands of the English club and seek an agreement. Atlético would be willing to offer between 40 and 45 million euros, possibly reaching 50 with bonuses, which would make Romero the most expensive defender in the club’s history.
