Atleti's Youth Players Shine with the U-19 Team
Our academy continues to bring joy! During the recent international break, several Atlético de Madrid youth players have demonstrated their quality with the Spanish U-19 national team.
Omar Janneh, Jano Monserrate, and Daniel Muñoz were called up by Paco Gallardo for the U-19 Elite Round, leaving their mark in the 2-2 draw against Italy. Jano Monserrate, Atleti’s midfielder, opened the scoring for Spain, showing his goal-scoring instincts.
Later, in an exciting finale, Omar Janneh, the ‘Colchonero’ forward, provoked the penalty that meant the agonizing draw a few minutes from the end. In addition, Janneh had the victory at his feet in a counterattack, but his shot went narrowly wide.
This draw allows the U-19 team to continue to depend on itself to qualify for the final phase of the European Championship. The team, with our youth players at the front, showed character and ambition. Now, the team prepares to face Latvia with its sights set on securing its place in the European Championship. We trust in the talent and determination of our ‘Rojiblancos’ to continue reaping successes!
