50 years since Luis Aragonés' debut as Atlético de Madrid coach
On December 1, 1974, Luis Aragonés directed his first match as Atlético de Madrid coach against Valencia at Mestalla (formerly known as Luis Casanova). The result was 1-1.
That season, Atlético reached the Copa del Rey final, losing to Madrid on penalties, but before that they won their biggest title, the Intercontinental Cup, against Independiente.
