Oblak Makes History! Sixth Zamora for the Slovenian Wall
Our Jan Oblak has done it again! The Rojiblanco guardian has won the Zamora Trophy for the sixth time in his career, an unprecedented milestone in LaLiga history. The news was confirmed after the squad list for the match against Girona was announced, making it mathematically impossible to snatch the award from him.
Oblak surpasses legends like Víctor Valdés and Antoni Ramallets, who held the previous record with five trophies. Oblak’s previous Zamoras were in the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19, and 2020-21 seasons, consolidating his dominance between the posts at the Metropolitano.
In this last campaign, Oblak conceded 30 goals in 36 matches, keeping a clean sheet on 15 occasions. In addition, Musso contributed with two clean sheet in the two matches he played, raising to 17 the matches with the goal to zero of Atlético.
In his ten seasons as a Rojiblanco, only four goalkeepers managed to temporarily interrupt his reign: Courtois, Bounou, Ter Stegen, and Unai Simón. However, Oblak has always returned to prove his worth and continue to build his legend. With this new Zamora, Jan Oblak is established as one of the greatest goalkeepers to have defended the Atlético de Madrid shirt and an undisputed reference in the history of Spanish football. Congratulations, Jan!
